Gallowstreet (NL)

A decade of innovating brass music. Gallowstreet has been up and at it. This squad of dedicated musicians from Amsterdam has been proving its worth at festivals and clubs both in the Netherlands and abroad. Hailing from the Galgenstraat, hence the name Gallowstreet, the band employs a wide range of musical genres to tell stories with their compositions, most of them beat driven, all of them with anthemic quality.

Their latest album “Our Dear Metropolis” brings these qualities to the forefront wrapped in the story of their changing hometown. Having honed their skills of composing and producing new sounds using only wind instruments this record shows a fresh take on the brass band genre.

Due to the pandemic and a tour that was postponed multiple times the band delved a little deeper to create a new album which was fully recorded in some beautiful Dutch landscapes. “Laaglands” is an 8-track trip with richly ornamented compositions that lean more towards cinema music and neoclassical, offering a contrasting experience to their last record.

Gallowstreet has been a show-stopping favorite in their home country at festivals like North Sea Jazz and Lowlands but have also made their mark on venues and festivals abroad. Their tracks are on repeat among brass enthusiasts around the globe and videos regularly pop-up of amateur orchestras and bands covering their material.
